Fu Zhuan Brick 2009 (Bai Sha Xi)

Fu Zhuan tea brick is one of the dark teas from Hunan Province. The most distinctive feature of this tea is undoubtedly the golden fungus in between the tea leaves. Fuzhuan tea brick is made out of high quality Máo Chá (a mostly un-oxidized green tea processed from a larger leaf variety of the Camellia Sinensis) which is treated to activate the enzymes, then graded and bagged, mixed, steamed, naturally oxidized, softened with steam, pressed into a brick, allowed fungal fermentation, dried and then finally stored and sold.

Fu Zhuan tea brick is scientifically proved to have good health benefits. The golden fungus (Eurotium Cristatum) inside the brick has enzymes and small molecular metabolic substances which help improve digestion, reduce blood fat and cholesterol, lower blood pressure and generally improve your metabolism. The Fu Zhuan tea brick also has tea polysaccharides compound, which adjusts the sugar metabolism in a way that it helps against diabetes. Because of the microbial fermentation the Fu Zhuan tea brick also has natural anti-bacterial effects.

This Bai Sha Xi Fu Zhuan Brick is 338g per piece. A tea knife is necessary to take small piece from the brick. Mouya also prepares smaller packages (cut and break from original brick) for customers who are new to dark tea. This tea is much stronger than other teas like green tea or white tea, and the taste is completely different; thus, we recommend you to buy small amount the first time and brew a little bit lighter to start with.

Only one year old (Since 2009), Bai Sha Xi Fu Zhuan tea brick does not have as much golden fungus as Yi Pin Fu Zhuan Brick yet and the taste is as such also lighter. However, there are more twigs in this brick, and in time it will taste richer and better than the Yi Pin Fu Zhuan Brick.
