
Roasted Barley Tea (Da Mai Cha in Chinese) is a caffeine-free, roasted-grained-based infusion made from barley. It is very popular in Asian countries like China, Japan and Korea. Roasted barley tea can be served both hot or cold, and it is believed to help reduce “body heat” in summer.
Originally, people cook the roasted barley for about 15 minutes to prepare this infusion. However, to make it simple, brew the grain with hot water also brings very good beverage but not as strong as the original.
Brewing Instructions
- Recommended amount per person: 10 g
- Dry leave weight (g) : Water amount (ml) 1:50
- Water temperature: 95-100°C / 203-212°F
- Refills: 4-5 times
- Infuse time: 5-15 minutes
